The Mercury 2+ Terminal retains the look and feel of the Mercury 2e and is fully compatible with all existing installations, whilst offering improved performance through the use of entirely new electronics and firmware. This has been rewritten in a modular form to allow greater flexibility for the customer.

The new enhanced features of the Mercury 2+ Terminal include:

Proximity Readers

An optional proximity reader module is available, for applications such as personnel access checking or batch recipe selection.

These use a non-contact technology to read the Card Serial Number* by passing the card within a few centimetres of the front of the reader module.

With proximity technology, the identification media can take a number of different formats including a key fob device as an alternative to the standard Proximity card.

Currently technologies supported are:- AWID26, EM, HID Prox, Mifare.

Due to the modular design used, it is possible to add support for other technologies. Please contact our sales team for further details.

* Note : the unit is only able to read the factory programmed serial number from the proximity cards. For cards that allow user data to be stored on them (e.g. Mifare), the unit is not able to retrieve this user information.

R507 Interface Module

To make full use of these enhanced features a new interface module is available. The R507 IS Interface module is a Safe Area DIN rail mounted device which provides intrinsically safe power and communications signals to the Hazardous Area.

The unit provides galvanic isolation between the field mounted Hazardous Area equipment and the Safe Area 24V power supply and communication ports. Designed specifically for the Mercury 2+ Terminal it allows high speed communications over distances of up to 1km into the Hazardous Area.
